The school should be recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. One way to determine if your school is giving accredited online degrees is to check with this government agency. Check out from the U.S. Department of Education's website at http://www.ed.gov/index.jhtml if the school is listed with them or not.
Check with the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. The list of accredited schools is not only available with the U.S. Department of Education. To check the Council's list of accredited schools, go to their website at http://www.chea.org/
