No need to travel.
The advantages of online education revolve around of the fact that everything is virtual. Students need not commute or travel to get to school. All they really have to do is to turn on their computers, get online, and the learning process starts.
Student can do their normal work while taking classes.
Following that idea, online students can definitely do their normal work while they are taking their classes. This feat is almost impossible with traditional education. It is almost impossible to go to work and go to school on the same day without feeling exhausted after.

It is not limited by geography.
Due to the application of technology in education, learning is not anymore limited by geography. Students can be traveling around the world even as they study. In online education it won't matter where the student is located. All he needs is a computer with an Internet access. Then he can be in school anytime he likes.
Online education is self-paced.
The student has full control whether he goes slowly or fast in regards with the way he learns. He can choose to breeze through modules and topics that are familiar to him. And he can take time in those which are comparatively hard. The speed of learning is all up to him.

The Disadvantages of Online Education

There are instructors who do not perform well online.
Since online education is relatively new, the search for modern instructors who are proficient with online learning is still rare at this point in time.
Limited students' interaction.
Some also believe that online education has few avenues for feedbacks and face-to-face interactions. Although technology and education is almost the best match for each other, this area is still something to improve on.
The need for equipments.
There are equipments that a student is required to have. Of course, he has to have a good computer, a reliable Internet access, and all the necessary software. If one of these three things is missing, learning will not be able to commence.
Students have to learn new skills.
There is a whole new way to research and review over the Internet. If you are an online student, you need not go to the library to look for the necessary information. You have to learn how to navigate an online library instead.

You might well ask, what is E-learning? What are the skills I need to have to succeed in it? Well, if you want to excel in an online school, you need to have commitment and motivation. In essence, you will be learning on you own, by your own. It is therefore important that you motivate yourself, enough to instill discipline and commitment in your desire to learn and finish the online degree that you took.

Do not decide hastily to attend an online school. Determine first if online education is right for you. Distance learning information is available almost everywhere - in schools, public places, and of course, the Internet. Once you felt that you are ready to explore the technology in education called online learning, then that's the time you should sign up for one.
