Teacher's College

The WGU Teacher's College offers programs both for new teachers and teachers who are already licensed and in the field. Their licensure program allows teachers to earn a Bachelor's degree in Elementary/Middle School, Math, Science, and Social Sciences. When finished with the program the student is able to become certified as a teacher in any state in the country, provided they go through the certification process.

If a student already has a Bachelor's degree, but not in education, and they want to become a teacher, they can take the post-baccalaureate programs. These are designed to give students the extra courses they need to become a licensed teacher, without the general educational requirements that they have already fulfilled.

Finally, the teacher's college offers Master's degree programs in elementary/middle school, math, science, and social science. This program is designed to provide continuing education to teachers who already have a teaching license.

Students in the WGU teacher's college will have to complete student teaching, which is called Demonstration Teaching. The duration of student teaching is usually twelve to eighteen weeks, and is performed under the supervision of an experienced classroom teacher in the particular subject field that the student is pursuing. The Demonstration Teaching occurs after all course work is completed.
